More often than not I go to places that spend a lot of money operating their buildings to find that the maintenance come out of one budget and the power bills come out of another budget. Many of these places reduce the maintenance to the lowest level to save money and I try to help them learn how much this is costing them on their utilities.
This broken belt cost about %6 on the electric bill for the motor for many months as it got worse the drive became even less efficient until it finally failed. Replacing the belt every year and checking it often would have saved much more than the costs of the work. In this case the work was done at a higher costs because they had to call someone out to make a special trip to fix it.
In future posts I'll try to find other ways Maintenance Pays. In the mean time please get your belts changed on the proper schedule.
